LG Ducted Air Conditioner Repair in Kidman Park: From Faulty Fan Motor to Warm Again

After around 20 years of service, even a reliable ducted air conditioning system can eventually reach the point where replacement becomes the more practical option.
That was the case for a homeowner in Toorak Gardens, whose Daikin ducted air conditioning system had originally been installed by Morphett Air approximately 20 years ago.

The Problem
The homeowner noticed their Daikin ducted air conditioner would no longer start.
The light on the control panel was still illuminated, but the system itself wasn’t operating. A hard reset was attempted, but unfortunately this didn’t rectify the issue.
With the existing Daikin having already provided around two decades of service, the decision was made to replace the ageing system with a new ducted reverse cycle air conditioner.

There was a nice bit of history behind this particular job — Morphett Air had installed the original Daikin system around 20 years earlier.
Now, two decades later, we were back at the same Toorak Gardens home to replace it with another Daikin ducted system.
Getting approximately 20 years from the previous system is a great run, and this time the homeowner once again chose Daikin for their new air conditioning.
The New Daikin Ducted System
Morphett Air replaced the old system with a new Daikin FDYAN160A-C2V ducted reverse cycle air conditioning system.
The upgrade also included:
- A new Daikin controller
- A replacement zone motor
- Supply and installation of a remote temperature sensor in Bedroom 1
- Installation and commissioning of the new ducted system
- Testing of the system, controls and zoning to ensure everything was operating correctly
With the installation complete, the home once again had reliable ducted heating and cooling.
Updating the Controls and Zoning
Replacing an older ducted air conditioner can involve more than simply swapping the indoor and outdoor units.
As part of this installation, the home’s air conditioning controller and required zone motor were replaced to work with the new setup.
A remote temperature sensor was also installed in Bedroom 1, allowing the system to monitor the temperature from within the room as part of its operation.
Taking care of these components as part of the replacement helped ensure the new system was properly set up for the home.

The result is a modern replacement ready to provide the Toorak Gardens home with heating and cooling for the years ahead.
When Is It Time to Replace an Older Ducted Air Conditioner?
A fault doesn’t automatically mean an air conditioner needs to be replaced. Depending on the problem, the age and condition of the equipment and the availability of parts, repairing an existing system can sometimes be the appropriate solution.
However, when a ducted air conditioner is approaching 20 years old and develops a significant problem, it’s worth considering whether investing in a new system makes more sense for the long term.
