<p class="wp-block-paragraph">After around 20 years of service, even a reliable ducted air conditioning system can eventually reach the point where replacement becomes the more practical option.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">That was the case for a homeowner in <strong>Toorak Gardens</strong>, whose Daikin ducted air conditioning system had originally been installed by <strong>Morphett Air approximately 20 years ago</strong>.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When the ageing system stopped working, the homeowner got back in touch with us to find a solution.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph"><strong>The Problem</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The homeowner noticed their <strong>Daikin ducted air conditioner would no longer start</strong>.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The light on the control panel was still illuminated, but the system itself wasn’t operating. A hard reset was attempted, but unfortunately this didn’t rectify the issue.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">With the existing Daikin having already provided around <strong>two decades of service</strong>, the decision was made to replace the ageing system with a new ducted reverse cycle air conditioner.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Back to a Home We Know</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">There was a nice bit of history behind this particular job — <strong>Morphett Air had installed the original Daikin system around 20 years earlier</strong>.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Now, two decades later, we were back at the same Toorak Gardens home to replace it with another Daikin ducted system.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Getting approximately 20 years from the previous system is a great run, and this time the homeowner once again chose Daikin for their new air conditioning.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph"><strong>The New Daikin Ducted System</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Morphett Air replaced the old system with a new <strong>Daikin FDYAN160A-C2V ducted reverse cycle air conditioning system</strong>.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">The upgrade also included:</p>

<li>A new <strong>Daikin controller</strong></li>



<li>A <strong>replacement zone motor</strong></li>



<li>Supply and installation of a <strong>remote temperature sensor in Bedroom 1</strong></li>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">With the installation complete, the home once again had reliable ducted heating and cooling.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph"><strong>Updating the Controls and Zoning</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Replacing an older ducted air conditioner can involve more than simply swapping the indoor and outdoor units.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">As part of this installation, the home’s air conditioning controller and required zone motor were replaced to work with the new setup.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">A remote temperature sensor was also installed in <strong>Bedroom 1</strong>, allowing the system to monitor the temperature from within the room as part of its operation.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">When your ducted air conditioner suddenly stops working properly, it doesn’t always mean the entire system needs replacing. Sometimes, a thorough diagnosis can pinpoint the failed components and get the system back up and running with a targeted repair.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">That was the case for Sam in Kidman Park, whose LG ducted air conditioning system was having trouble keeping the home comfortable.</p>



<p class="has-medium-font-size wp-block-paragraph"><strong>The Problem</strong></p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Sam contacted Morphett Air after experiencing problems with his LG ducted air conditioning system.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Our technician carried out diagnostic testing and found the lower condenser fan motor was faulty.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">During testing, the outputs from the PCB were found to be correct, helping rule out the PCB as the cause of the problem. The fan motor could also still be spun by hand; however, it failed resistance testing, confirming a fault with the motor itself.</p>



<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Rather than simply replacing parts based on symptoms, testing allowed our technician to identify where the fault was occurring and determine what was required to repair the system.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">Once the problem had been diagnosed, the necessary replacement parts were organised to get Sam’s LG ducted system operating correctly again.</p>

<p class="wp-block-paragraph">After:<br>A new lower fan motor, harness and fan blade were installed, along with a new disposable filter, getting the system back up and running.</p>
